The best relegated Premier League players this season
It was a dramatic final day of the Premier League season at the bottom end of the table.
Southampton were already long since relegated before matchday 38 but they were joined by Leeds and Leicester City on Sunday.
Given the astronomical riches in the Premier League, a number of top stars now find themselves demoted to the EFL Championship.
Leeds
Leeds’ two most valuable players are American in the form of midfielders Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson at €39.3 million and €35m, respectively.
Young goalkeeper Ilan Meslier is highly rated despite his struggles this year. He is valued at €28.8m.
Others who are worth a lot despite Leeds’ relegation are winger Jack Harrison at €27.8m, flop Georginio Rutter at €26.8m and Italian wonderkid Wilfried Gnonto at €25.3m. Gnonto is almost certain to leave this summer.
Leicester
Leicester only won the Premier League in 2016 but their demise is now complete.
The Foxes have a number of stars who are certain to move to top clubs following this relegation.
Youri Tielemans is the highest valued player at €49m but will leave when his contract expires. Roma are interested.
Harvey Barnes is a big talent at €39.6m, while James Maddison is at €37.7m. Maddison will almost certainly depart and is liked by Tottenham.
Elsewhere, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (€34.1m), Wout Faes (€31.2m) and Timothy Castagne (€30m) have solid values and could bring in some much needed cash for a Leicester side that face financial problems.
Southampton
Southampton's most-coveted player this summer will no doubt be James Ward-Prowse, who is valued at €39.3m. The England international will have a number of interested suitors.
The second-highest valued Southampton player is goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu at €26.1m.
Other highly-rated and highly-valued stars at Southampton are Armel Bella-Kotchap (€22.6m), Kamaldeen Sulemana (€21.4m), Romeo Lavia (€20.8m) and Tino Livramento (€20.1m). The latter duo have been linked to Arsenal.
