According to Sport, the Gunners have put a two-year contract offer on the table for Gundogan.

As it stands Arsenal are considered outsiders for the 32-year-old, with Barcelona, AC Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia also interested.

Gundogan’s contract expires at the end of the month and, while there is still a slim chance he could extend with City, a free transfer move away appears likely.

Barcelona have been in talks with Gundogan for some time and it is believed they are the player’s preference.

Gundogan is seen as the perfect replacement for Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets, who will leave the club on a free transfer after 15 glittering seasons in the first team.

As for Arsenal, they are in the market for a top-class central midfielder and there are few better in the game than Gundogan.

Gundogan brilliant 2022-23 season

The Germany international has enjoyed a magnificent season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

He has been in particularly brilliant form recently, scoring both goals in the FA Cup final win over Man Utd last week.

He has the chance to complete a historic treble on Saturday when Man City play Inter in the final of the Champions League.

Gundogan joined City in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund and has made over 300 appearances for the club, winning five Premier League titles.

If Arsenal were able to sign him, he would be the latest in a line of players to move from City to the Emirates - following Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last year.
