Arsenal could WIN the transfer window this week with triple signing
Arsenal could be on the cusp of a monumental week as they look to seal three major signings of their top targets in a sweep which could see them come out above their rivals in the transfer window.
The Gunners missed out on the title last season despite topping the table for the majority of the season and the club appear to have channelled that disappointment into fuel by acting quickly with their signings.
Kai Havertz is set to join from Chelsea for £65 million while Jurrien Timber has agreed personal terms as Arsenal will look to seal negotiations with Ajax over a £40m deal.
Arsenal are also looking to sign Declan Rice despite having two bids in excess of £90m rejected by West Ham, with the England international believed to prefer a switch to North London over a move to Manchester City despite interest from the champions.
EXCLUSIVE: Rice still set to join Arsenal despite City approach
Should Arsenal miss out on Rice, they are believed to have the likes of Romeo Lavia as an alternative and Mikel Arteta could feasibly have his three major targets in place before the start of pre-season in July.
With Arsenal also having secured the long-term futures of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli, the Gunners could end up being the biggest beneficiaries of the transfer window as they look to go one step further next season.
Arsenal blowing past rivals with efficiently-timed business
Despite only narrowly losing out to City last season, closing the gap on a treble-winning side who are set to add the £100m signing of Josko Gvardiol (and potentially Rice) to their squad is a daunting task for Arsenal.
However, the Gunners have looked to spend big in order to strengthen their team without losing too many first team players, with the likes of Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe looking likely to stay at the Emirates despite having been expected to be sold this summer.
Part of the reason Arsenal could keep hold of their stars is because they are expected to get a significant windfall from the exit of Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a £40m move to Saudi Arabia, while Granit Xhaka is also in talks to leave the club.
Being able to shift on older players on big wages, all for significant fees, and then replacing them with younger, potentially superior talent, is the goal for the majority of teams, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United looking to pull off similar moves this summer, to little success so far.
GOOD CHOICE: Incoming signing believes Arsenal are 'the best team in Europe'
Arsenal could have a head start over their rivals by having their signings in place for the entirety of the pre-season before being ready for the Community Shield on August 6th.
While it remains to be seen whether the signings take Arsenal to the next level – if they all indeed are confirmed – the preparedness and efficiency of the club’s business will put them in the best position to push for the Premier League title next season.
