Romano 'solves mystery' of Chelsea transfer
Fabrizio Romano has revealed why Christopher Nkunku still has not been announced as a Chelsea player.
The French star has been tearing up the Bundesliga in recent years, finishing this season as the league's top scorer despite missing a good chunk of the campaign through injury. The RB Leipzig star scored 16 goals in just 25 league games while also recording a goal and an assist in the Red Bulls' DFB-Pokal final win over Frankfurt.
Nkunku's move to Chelsea has been an open secret for months, but a deal still hasn't been announced. This has caused a bit of perturbation among Blues fans, with it being feared that the move could potentially have collapsed in light of Leipzig's successful end to the season.
Fabrizio Romano, however, has now given a reassuring message to Chelsea supporters and explained why no official unveiling has taken place as yet.

Contract signed in December
According to the transfer expert, the deal is still very much on and all the paperwork has long since been completed. "For Christopher Nkunku, I want to clarify one thing," the Italian told his 1.68 million YouTube subscribers. "No worries, Chelsea fans. The deal was completed in September."
"Nkunku completed the medical test in September for Chelsea and then in December all the documents were signed. So, Nkunku is a Chelsea player, 100 per cent."

"Why no announcement yet? Because they agreed - Chelsea and Leipzig - in December when they signed the documents that this was going to be announced after the final games of Nkunku with the national team. This was an agreement to protect the club and the player from too many rumours."
"Just wait for a few days, probably after the 18th, 19th we can wait for the official announcement, or this could be at the beginning of July, but Christopher Nkunku is a Chelsea player for more than a €60 million fee."
