Chelsea have been given renewed hope in their bid to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in a development which could have disastrous consequences for Man Utd.

Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to prise Vlahovic away from the Italian giants as he looks to reshape his bloated Stamford Bridge squad with a flurry of sales and signings.

With Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic apparently heading to Serie A and AC Milan, it looks like the 23-year-old Vlahovic could yet be heading in the opposite direction on the back of fresh news out of Italy.

Vlahovic chase could cost Man Utd Hojlund

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Cristiano Giuntoli, the sporting director who masterminded Napoli's Scudetto win last season, is headed to Turin to take up the same role at Juventus.

Gazzetta reports that Giuntoli will rebuild the Juventus squad in his image, and will be looking for big-name departures to fund the project. Right now there are none bigger than Vlahovic.

With Chelsea and others waiting to pounce, it appears Vlahovic is very much for sale and we expect the bidding to start very soon. The Blues are likely to face competition from Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid among others.

As we already hinted, this news could have disastrous consequences for Man Utd, because the collateral impact is their own striker target - Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta. The reason? Juventus (and Napoli) both want to sign Hojlund.

So you could have a scenario where Chelsea landing Vlahovic indirectly costs Erik ten Hag one of his top summer transfer targets with the Danish hitman staying in Serie A. These are grim times indeed at Old Trafford.
