Chelsea flop Mudryk DROPPED to Under-21s

Chelsea flop Mykhailo Mudryk is set to drop down to Ukraine’s Under-21s for the upcoming European Championship, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Matt Law reports that Mudryk is planning to play at the Euro youth tournament, which kicks off next week.

The reason for this is because Mudryk hopes that it will help him rediscover his form ahead of the 2023-24 season with Chelsea.

This decision is said to be supported by new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is impressed by Mudryk’s attitude.

The wideman joined Chelsea for €100 million in January after the Blues hijacked Arsenal's deal for the Ukrainian winger.

However, the winger has endured a dreadful first six months at Stamford Bridge.

He has managed no goals and just two assists in 17 appearances amidst a string of poor performances.

Mudryk’s poor form resulted in him dropping to the bench under caretaker manager Frank Lampard, as well as often being mocked by opposition fans.

Mudryk hopes that by playing for Ukraine at the 2023 Euro Under-21 Championship, he can impress Pochettino enough to work his way back into the first team.

He will face increased competition next season as Chelsea have already signed Christopher Nkunku and are planning to buy more attackers.

Chelsea endured a disastrous 2022-23 season despite a world record transfer spend.

They ended the campaign in 12th place, just eight points off the bottom three. They also disappointed in all cup competitions and went through three managers in total’ Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and caretaker Lampard.
