Harry Kane moves away from Man Utd towards Bayern
Harry Kane is ‘ready’ to join Bayern Munich this summer after giving up hope on a move to Manchester United, with the Tottenham striker having agreed personal terms with the German side.
Kane is out of contract at Tottenham next summer, prompting interest from the likes of United and Real Madrid, however Spurs have insisted their club legend is not for sale.
United refused to get into drawn out negotiations with Spurs after learning that it would take a bid of more than £100 million to even tempt their rivals into a sale, however Bayern have since made a renewed attempt at signing the England captain, whom they have long admired.
REJECTED: Spurs turn down MONSTER Kane bid
The Bundesliga outfit have had a verbal offer of £60m plus add-ons rejected but there is a belief that a bid of £100m could change Tottenham’s mind, with chairman Daniel Levy understood to be more open to selling Kane to a foreign team instead of a Premier League rival.
Kane has stopped short of formally asking to leave Spurs, having looked to force his way out of the club two years ago, and is willing to see out the final year of his contract in North London.
However, a move to Bayern would provide Kane with a better opportunity to win trophies despite the 29-year-old being 48 goals off breaking Alan Shearer’s record as the leading goalscorer in Premier League history.
The state of play for Kane, Tottenham, Bayern and United
Bayern have been keen to sign a striker since selling Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer and Kane has been a long-time target for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
While a deal could prove expensive, Bayern appreciate that it would be tougher to sign Kane on a free transfer next summer, when they would likely compete with more teams and be forced to offer a significantly higher contract.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are aware of the impact of losing their all-time top scorer and are hopeful that proving their capabilities under new manager Ange Postecoglou will convince Kane to extend his contract, otherwise they prefer to let him leave for free next summer.
For United, while Kane was their top target, other targets such as Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani are being assessed due to Spurs being unwilling sellers.
MOVES: Man Utd 'step up' striker pursuit
Kane will now wait to see whether Bayern can agree a fee with Spurs before making a final decision, with the striker seemingly ready to leave the club and start a new life in Germany.
