Act quickly! Liverpool FAVOURITES to land Bundesliga star
Liverpool are now the favourites to land Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone.
German media and Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday evening what we have been reporting since January: Liverpool want Kouadio "Manu" Kone. Now, BILD claim that the Reds are in pole position to sign the Frenchman, and a transfer could get done quickly.
Jurgen Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke are working hard behind the scenes to rebuild Liverpool's midfield, with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner departing the club this summer, while youngster Fabio Carvalho could yet follow suit.
The first incoming transfer is on the verge of being completed as the deal to sign Brighton star man and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister is set to get struck next week, according to Romano. One player won't be enough to achieve Jurgen Klopp's announced goal of challenging for the title next season, so other options are being looked at.
CONFIRMED: Liverpool want Bundesliga prodigy
Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram and Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes are among the names Liverpool are considering, but it could very well end up being Manu Kone who will move to Anfield in the next few weeks or months.
Liverpool must act quickly
According to BILD, the Reds could get a deal done quickly if they continue to push for a move with Monchengladbach prepared to let their midfield dynamo go for around €40 million, though Liverpool could even get him for a smaller initial fee than that.
The German outlet claims that the Reds are firmly leading the race to land the 22-year-old, which is unsurprising given that their interest in the former Toulouse man goes back months, as we have been repeatedly reporting.

If they get a deal done, it will be interesting to see where Kone will fit in at Liverpool. He profiles similarly to Bruno Guimaraes, but the Brazilian is three years his senior and therefore a much more complete (and Premier League-experienced) player than the still-raw Frenchman.
Kone, however, will cost Liverpool much less than Guimaraes would considering that the 25-year-old could fetch as much as €100m.
