Man Utd Managers: All-time list of Red Devils bosses, and how long they lasted
Manchester United are the most successful club in the Premier League era, but the Red Devils have not won the top flight since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
The Scotsman is arguably the greatest manager in football history and his departure from Old Trafford has left a gigantic hole at the club.
Erik ten Hag’s appointment in 2022 brought silverware back to the red side of Manchester as they won the 2023 Carling Cup and 2024 FA Cup but Man Utd's fortunes continue to be bleak as they have fallen well short of challenging for the major honours of Premier League and Champions League.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as Man Utd manager in October 2024 with a win percentage of 54.7%, which despite his struggles still gave the Dutchman the third best win rate in the club's history.
Only Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson’s 59.7% and Jose Mourinho's 58% better the win record of Ten Hag.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, David Moyes and Louis van Gaal all bettered Sir Matt Busby’s win percentage during their respective time as Man Utd manager.
In total, Man Utd have had 22 different permanent managers during the club’s history, with the aforementioned Busby and Walter Crickmer both enjoying two spells in charge.

Who is the current Man Utd manager?
Ruud van Nistelrooy is the current caretaker manager of Manchester United.
The former United and Dutch attacker was handed the job on a temporary basis following the sacking of Erik ten Hag on October 28, 2024.
Ten Hag was sacked after a disastrous start to the 2024-25 season, which had seen United languishing down in 14th position and winless from their first three Europa League games.
The Dutchman had taken the Man Utd job after he left Ajax in 2022.
His first season was promising as he won the League Cup, finished runners-up in the FA Cup and qualified for the Champions League.
His second season was disappointing - despite winning the FA Cup - as United missed out on Champions League qualification, and were knocked out of the Champions League groups stages.
Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim is set to take over the job in his place.
