REVEALED: Man Utd's RIDICULOUS asking prices for Maguire and McTominay
Manchester United are desperate to raise funds and they have set some eyebrow-raising asking prices for some of their players, according to a report.
The Red Devils are in a tricky situation. Erik ten Hag has big ambitions for next season, but the ongoing uncertainty regarding the takeover saga makes any significant transfer business tough.
The outgoing current owners, the Glazers, are reluctant to sink any more money into transfers with a sale imminent, yet they are also dragging their feet in making a decision on whom to sell to, Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe. This means that Ten Hag and director of football John Murtough are operating under budget constraints which may have already caused them to miss out on Chelsea's Mason Mount.

Moreover, United have had to shift their focus away from some of their preferred number nine targets like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen simply because they would be too expensive. There are other options around, of course, but the Manchester club is still without a proper striker with pre-season just around the corner.
Money talks
Therefore, in a bid to raise funds, Manchester United have slapped asking prices on several of their more dispensable stars, according to the Daily Mail. The report claims that the likes of Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire could be had for around half of what United initially paid for them.
€85 million arrival Sancho is valued by the club at £45m (€53m), while they want £40m for Maguire. Youngster Anthony Elanga, a prime candidate to get sold having failed to break into the first team, has been given the ambitious price tag of £20m.

Even more eyebrow-raising are the £40m United are demanding for Scott McTominay, if the Mail is to be believed. Hit-and-miss (mostly miss) midfielder Fred is worth £20m in Ten Hag's eyes, while oft-injured Anthony Martial should ideally go for £25m.
