Man Utd having seconds thoughts on Mount transfer

Manchester United’s apparently imminent move for Mason Mount may have hit a bump, with Chelsea’s asking price said to be causing issues.

The attacking midfielder, 24, looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Man Utd reportedly the favourites to secure his signature.

But it seems United – who will want to bolster their squad as they prepare for their return to the Champions League next season – have yet to decide whether they will indeed make an approach for the England international this summer.

According to ESPN, Man Utd have ‘reservations’ over Chelsea’s valuation of Mount – who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €71.9m (£61.6m).

That’s despite The Telegraph claiming that the Blues academy product had already agreed personal terms on a proposed switch to Old Trafford.

Mount still has a year left to run on his Chelsea contract – but if he truly has his sights set on a new challenge, it’s only logical that the two-time European champions cash in while they still can.

Mount and Fernandes to give Ten Hag a headache?

If it comes to fruition, this has the potential be one of the most intriguing transfers of the summer – for the simple reason that Mount doesn’t obviously slot into Erik ten Hag’s United set-up.

On the basis that his strongest role is that of a number 10, there could be some serious competition between Mount a current United star: Bruno Fernandes.

With neither player at their best operating in a deeper midfield capacity or out wide, Ten Hag could have to make some fairly innovative tactical adjustments to accommodate both players in his side – if, indeed, such a need ultimately arises.
