Rasmus Hojlund has refused to be drawn on rumours linking him with a summer move to Manchester United, after recently taking on a new agent.

The Atalanta and Denmark striker, 20, is one of a number of centre-forwards being linked with United as Erik ten Hag and co. target a new number nine.

And Hojlund’s fresh representation has only intensified speculation that he could be on his way to Old Trafford – not that he was in the mood to give anything away.

Asked about his change of agent while away on international duty, Hojlund succinctly told Danish sports magazine Tipsbladet: “It’s a trial period and that’s all I can say.”

The former Sturm Graz and Copenhagen man has emerged as one of the finest young attackers in Europe during a breakout first season with Atalanta.

Hojlund joined the Serie A club for €17m in August last year; our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model currently rates him at €24m – although, if recent reports are to be believed, Atalanta could demand more than three times that amount.

Off to a flyer

While Hojlund’s Atalanta goals record doesn’t scream ‘prolific’, he has found the net 10 times in only 20 starts for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side – who finished the campaign fifth in Serie A, securing Europa League qualification.

And Hojlund has got off to a flyer for Denmark, scoring five goals in four caps so far – including a hat-trick in March’s 3-1 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Finland, in which he made his first international start.

He’s contracted at Atalanta until the summer of 2027 – but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him depart in the coming months, with the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid also linked in recent months.
