Man Utd have reportedly had a third offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount rejected as they bid to make him their first major summer signing.

United had already failed with bids of £40m and £50m before submitting their latest proposal on Friday - per ace transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano says Chelsea have countered with a suggestion the Red Devils pay £58m plus £7m add-ons and have offered to meet in person this week in a bid to get the deal over the line.

Erik ten Hag and co have stressed throughout this negotiation that they will not make a crazy bid for a player who is out of contract next summer, and they want the matter wrapped up swiftly. A third and final bid is expected imminently, likely to be around £55m.

Reports suggest United are also threatening to switch their attentions to Brighton star Moises Caicedo - that would be doubly worrying for Chelsea as he is THEIR main midfield target this summer.

INCREDIBLE Mbappe numbers revealed as stance is REVEALED

The chances of Kylian Mbappe moving to Man Utd this summer appear very slim after the superstar French striker made his stance clear.

Mbappe, who has told PSG he will not extend his contract past the summer of 2024, believes he has 275m reasons to see out his existing pact at Parc des Princes.

According to Spanish daily Marca, Mbappe wants to pick up his €60m salary at PSG for next season, plus a €90m bonus for completing the contract.

If that is not enough, Mbappe believes he would then negotiate a bonus of up to €125m from Real Madrid if they were to sign him for free next summer.

Astonishing stuff, and something which will likely have the power brokers at Old Trafford rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

Prospective new Man Utd owner Sheikh Jassim is known to be tempted by the thought of signing Mbappe, but that is not even a possibility until the club's protracted takeover saga is brought to a conclusion.

One thing is for sure, the Glazers are not going to be playing at this level.

Osimhen suitors REVEALED as Napoli meet with striker

Man Utd ARE in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, according to reports from Italy.

Local daily Il Mattino claims that United, along with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG, have all sounded out the newly-crowned Italian champions about their star Nigerian striker.

But unsurprisingly as yet their enquiries have not come anywhere near the massive transfer fee wanted by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

He is reportedly looking for €150m for a player who scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A games last season to help fire his team to the Scudetto.

Man Utd could miss out on Hojlund in Osimhen PLOT TWIST

The future of the aforementioned Osimhen could yet have an enormous collateral impact on Man Utd's summer transfer business - it could see them miss out on Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund as well.

Hojlund is seen as a cheaper alternative for Erik ten Hag than the likes of Osimhen, Mbappe and Harry Kane. The problem is, now Napoli want him too.

IF Osimhen leaves Naples this summer, Corriere dello Sport reports that Hojlund would be Napoli's first choice to replace him. Their list also includes Jonathan David of Lille and Udinese forward Beto.

Rabiot conclusion LOOMS as Man Utd wait for final decision

It feels like Man Utd have been chasing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot for ever, but they should find out very soon if that pursuit has succeeded.

United are one of the teams hoping to land the French midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of this month.

Juventus have offered a new one-year deal to the 28-year-old, but he is reportedly very tempted by a move to the Premier League.

As well as the Man Utd proposal, Rabiot is also reportedly interesting Newcastle United.

Now reports from Italy suggest Rabiot will inform Juventus and other bidders of his decision in the coming days. The matter is being handled by his mother and agent Veronique.
