Odegaard sends Arsenal POSITIVE contract message after Saliba extension
Martin Odegaard has suggested that he is open to extending his Arsenal contract and, therefore, following in the footsteps of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in penning a new deal.
Presently gearing up for a Euro 2024 qualifying match for Norway against Scotland on Saturday, Odegaard has been discussing his club future and has sent the Gunners a positive message with regards his contract.
FootballTransfers revealed in March that the Gunners were ready to open talks with the 24-year-old over the prospect of extending his stay at the Emirates, with the Premier League runners-up aiming to tie their captain down until 2030.
The creative midfielder has gone some way to confirming that discussions will take place.
“I'm very happy at Arsenal and I hope to stay here for long time. Let's see on contract situation after the summer,” Odegaard told Norway’s TV2.
“I’ve not spoken to Arsenal yet. There’s no rush. My contract still has a long way to run.”
Odegaard the next step in Arsenal’s renewal project
Odegaard, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €64 million, which has steadily risen throughout his career, is under contract at Arsenal until June 2025.
Arsenal have been busy working on trying down key elements of their starting XI to extended deals in the opening months of 2023.
Martinelli was the first player to commit himself to the club, with Saka soon ending speculation that he might leave for Manchester City by penning a new contract. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that an agreement is in place for Saliba to sign a long-term extension.
As well as Odegaard, FootballTransfers has already revealed that Arsenal opened talks with manager Mikel Arteta last month with the aim of keeping the Gunners boss at the club on a long-term basis.
