Spurs have been following Pickford for several months and are known to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Hugo Lloris falling out of favour after a poor campaign and destined to depart at the end of his contract.

The London side have already started to make moves with regard to the 29-year-old England No.1, who is under contract with Everton until 2027.

Tottenham have already contacted the Goodison Park club to establish a dialogue over Pickford, while there have also been discussions between Spurs and the player’s entourage.

Sources have told FootballTransfers that Everton expect to receive in the region of £40 million for Pickford.

Although this figure may prove too much for Tottenham, it aligns with the goalkeepers’ Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), which FootballTransfers’ algorithm estimates to be a maximum of £47m (€54.4m).

Pickford wants two assurances

Pickford, who enjoyed a stellar season for Everton despite the club’s struggles, wants two key assurances before he considers a move to Tottenham.

Firstly, he wants to know who the new manager will be. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou appears to be in the driving seat for the position, with a string of high-profile names having turned the post down.

Secondly, Pickford wants to know if Harry Kane will remain at the club.

The goalkeeper’s England colleague is reportedly unsettled at Spurs following a season of underperformance and has been linked with a big-money transfer to Manchester United or Real Madrid. All indications are that Tottenham will fight to retain their captain but with just a year left on his contract, they have limited power.

With the Kane situation expected to take some time to resolve fully, Pickford’s Tottenham transfer could also prove to be a slow burn.
