Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Santos wonderkid Angelo Gabriel for a reported €15 million.

The 18-year-old already has more than 100 senior appearances under his belt and has become the latest South American youngster heading to Stamford Bridge after Kendry Paez and Andrey Santos.

What position does Angelo play in?

A pacy, left-footed dribbler, Angelo has mostly been utilised in a wide-forward role, preferring to play on the right wing.

How good is Angelo?

The young Brazilian has been part of Santos' senior set-up since early 2021, making his debut for Neymar's former club as a 15-year-old and beating Pele's record as the club's second-youngest debutant by 11 days in the process.

He went on to make more than 120 appearances for the club, but despite playing as an attacker, the 173 cm (5 ft 8 in) youngster only scored five goals for the club. He also provided 10 assists.

Though clearly not the most prolific forward ever, Angelo is nevertheless an exciting talent because of his explosiveness and desire to take people on in the dribble. He's more of a creator than a goal-scorer, playing mostly on the right wing, which allows him to cut inside onto his stronger left foot.

What clubs are interested in Angelo?

Chelsea quickly emerged as the front-runners for Angelo's signature and confirmed the purchase of the teenager in July 2023.

Barcelona did have an option of first refusal on the player, but they elected against making a move due to their financial issues, already struggling to sign and register fellow Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque.

Nottingham Forest were said to be close to signing Angelo in January, but they were soon blown out of the water by Chelsea's intent to sign him.

When does Angelo's contract expire?

The length of Angelo's contract has not been disclosed by the club, with Chelsea not revealing that information in their statement announcing his arrival.
