Juventus eye surprise move for Arsenal FLOP

Juventus are interested in signing former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, according to Italian media.

After a dramatic, up-and-down campaign that ultimately ended with the Bianconeri missing out on Champions League football, Juventus are preparing for the possible departure of defensive star Bremer.

Juventus parted with €41 million to sign the Brazilian from Torino just last summer, but he could already be on the move again. Juve are said to be prepared to sell if an offer matches their valuation.

In the event of the 26-year-old's exit, Juventus are eyeing Konstantinos Mavropanos as a potential replacement in what would be quite a surprising move.

Arsenal flop, Stuttgart leader

Mavropanos burst onto the scene at PAS Giannina in his native Greece as a youngster, ultimately getting snapped up by Arsenal. His time in north London did not go to plan, however.

In his four years with the club, he only made seven senior appearances, spending most of his time out on loan, initially with Nuremberg and then with Stuttgart. It was the latter, who eventually signed him permanently last year.

In Germany, the 25-year-old has developed into a leader and this is backed up by his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), which has risen prodigiously in recent times, currently sitting at €12.1.

Nevertheless, the Greek international is a player with obvious flaws. He can be exceptionally rash in his defending and he frequently struggles with niggling injuries.

When he is on form, he is imperious and would not look out of place at a massive club like Juventus, when he's off it, however, he can be a severe liability for his team. His inconsistent performances make it hard to look past his shortcomings.

He could be a solid option in Serie A if Juventus get back to dominating games, but he would be terribly exposed in the Champions League, which is ultimately where Juventus want to compete.
