Chelsea star reveals teammate with 'endless potential'

Big-money Chelsea signing Mykhailo Mudryk has 'endless bags of potential,' according to teammate Ben Chilwell.

The Ukrainian has thus far flattered to deceive at Stamford Bridge after arriving in a deal that could climb as high as €100 million in January. His first six months at Chelsea were marked by underperformance and public criticism, though the youngster certainly wasn't helped by the turmoil at the club.

With a new man at the helm in Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are set to improve after last season's dire campaign and Mudryk himself is keen to finally live up to his price tag. Thus far in pre-season, he has certainly looked the business.

After scoring against Brighton, he said: "I feel happy for all the work I put into this goal. It is not all my potential. It is only 20 per cent. I feel good because playing under Pochettino, our manager, is nice, it is enjoyable and it is a new team which is also enjoyable."

Now, teammate Ben Chilwell has weighed in on Mudryk and revealed what he expects from the 22-year-old this season.

What did Chilwell say?

Speaking to Football.London, the left-back said: "With Mischa, I just see endless bags of potential that hasn't been fulfilled yet. I've told him that, I'm not just saying that."

"I've told him," he continued, "he hasn't fulfilled that yet for one reason or another. I literally had a conversation with him today after training in the changing room, because he's been on fire the last few days and obviously was on fire in the game against Brighton and I just said he needs to keep that up now for the whole season."

"We all see how good he is and he just needs to keep up what he's been doing. Personally, I just like to make people feel confident in themselves...When I have these conversations with Mischa for example, it's just to make him feel like he's unstoppable so that when he goes into the next game he's full of confidence."
