Levi Colwill responds to Liverpool interest amid UNCERTAIN Chelsea future

Levi Colwill has responded to yet another question surrounding a possible transfer away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Chelsea defender spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and played a key role as Roberto De Zerbi’s side qualified for the Europa League for the first time in the club’s history.

Colwill, 20, caught the eye for the Seagulls and his recent performances for England’s U21 side have fuelled rumours of a move to Liverpool.

The youngster shone as the Young Lions emerged victorious at the U21 European Championships without conceding a single goal in the tournament. They became the first team in history to achieve this feat.

The defender jetted off on holiday after England’s victory, but is due to report for pre-season duty at Chelsea on 17 July - along with fellow England U21 star Noni Madueke.

He is set to engage in talks with new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino upon returning to the Cobham training facility, with Colwill keen on hearing the Argentine’s plans for next season.

After beating Spain in the U21 Euros final, Colwill was asked about his future and admitted: “I’ll speak to my family, speak to everyone I need to and make a decision. I’ve got to play at the end of the day to hopefully get there [England senior team] and go to the next camp.”

The Chelsea man is reportedly on Gareth Southgate’s radar, but has been told that he needs to play regular football to be considered for England’s squad for the 2024 Euros.

What has Colwill said?

With Liverpool circling, Colwill was questioned about a potential move to Anfield on Instagram Live. Colwill was joined on the social media app by a friend and was pressured to give an update on Liverpool’s interest. Colwill’s friend said: “Even my Jamaican bredrins are saying Levi to Liverpool.”

Colwill was quick to shut down his friend by replying: “[I] said no football talk, man.”

The Cobham academy graduate has two years left on his current Chelsea contract, although there is an option to extend his stay until 2026.
