Pochettino drops Chelsea transfer hint on star he has 'amazing relationship' with

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about his 'amazing relationship' with Harry Kane and refused to rule out more attacking signings.

The new Chelsea boss has been bullish ahead of his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to the press, he insisted that there are 'no excuses' for the Blues next season.

"I don’t want to make excuses to the players to say first of all we need time to rebuild, we need time to work, we need, we need, we need," he said. "No, no excuses."

Also during his first press conference, he was inevitably asked about his former player Harry Kane. The star striker is building a family home just down the road from Chelsea's Cobham training ground, which has given rise to some surprising rumours about a potential Blues switch.

Long-time former Spurs coach Pochettino was not surprised that a question about Kane cropped up.

What did Pochettino say?

"I don't like to talk about players in another club," the Argentine responded, "but you are talking about one of the greatest, one of the best strikers in the world. It’s not fair to talk, it’s not fair to say nothing. People are not stupid, fans are not stupid, they are so clever and they know my relationship with him was always amazing."

"I saw him," he added, "when he was young, grow up and achieve all he was achieving and of course, we have a great relationship. At the moment we are thinking in different ways. We are not thinking about that. Of course, working hard to try to provide the squad with good qualities. I don’t like to talk about players and more than that players who were close to me."

Despite already landing the signing of Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson, Pochettino refused to rule out the arrival of more attacking reinforcements.

"We are working on that and still we have time to work. I think for sure we are going to add players that can score and then we are going to try to find the best way to play to score not only with the offensive players – if not midfielders and players in different positions."
