EXCLUSIVE: Everton face Middle East competition for Leeds attacker Rodrigo
Everton are hoping to strike a deal with Leeds United for Rodrigo but face competition from the Middle East.
We understand that the attacker is almost certain to depart Elland Road this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship. Everton are hopeful of completing a two-year for the Spaniard while Leeds must make a sale this window or face losing the veteran in 2024 on a free, when his deal is up.
But Saudi Arabian clubs are also eyeing Rodrigo and would be able to offer a more lucrative contract.

Other Everton targets
As previously revealed, Jack Harrison remains a target for Sean Dyche, as does Leeds winger Wilfried Gnonto, though the latter is being watched by a string of clubs in the Premier League and in Europe. We have heard that the Italian’s representatives have already touched base with Everton.
But Everton’s ownership needs to be resolved before any major signings are made. The club’s current financial plight has hamstrung moves for any major recruitments.

Elsewhere, Ellis Simms is set to leave this window and is likely to drop down the lower divisions.
Jarrad Branthwaite is back from loan in the Netherlands. His parent club from last season, PSV Eindhoven, want him back at the Philips Stadion for next season but are unwilling to meet Everton’s asking price.
We are also told that Lewis Warrington could leave Goodison Park this summer and Plymouth Argyle are keen on the midfielder.
