That’s because it’s the day when we begin to find out how much each player will cost in next season’s game.

At 2pm on Monday, Premier League clubs will start revealing the prices of their players – continuing to do so throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.

We should soon know, then, how much of a dent some of the league’s biggest stars will make in FPL managers’ 2023/24 budgets.

It looks like bosses will once again have £100m with which to assemble their squad for the ever-addictive online accompaniment to the real Premier League action – which was played by over 11 million fans around the world last term, with Ali Jahangirov of Azerbaijan declared the overall winner.

Salah tops the table

Mo Salah started last season as the most expensive player in FPL – and it stayed that way for the entire campaign: initially valued at £13m, the Liverpool star ended 2022/23 with a price tag of £13.1m.

Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland started out second and third at £12m and £11.5m respectively – with the latter climbing above his teammate come season’s end, gaining almost £1m to have a final worth of £12.4m to De Bruyne’s £12.1m.

Only three other players ended the season priced at £10m or more: Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Son Heung-min (both £11.5m), and Cristiano Ronaldo (£10.2m), who was still owned by 1.9% of managers when the 2022/23 game finished despite having left Manchester United in November.
