Daley Blind has voiced his belief that Manchester United will challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The ex-Red Devils player spoke about his former manager, Erik ten Hag, with whom he enjoyed several very successful years at Ajax after leaving Manchester. Blind made 141 appearances across four seasons with United, but he never quite managed to live up to expectations - or his €17.5 million price tag.

Nevertheless, the Dutchman, who has over a century of appearances for his nation, went on to have a very accomplished career upon his return to Ajax. In January, he made the surprising decision to head to Bayern Munich, but that stint ended after just six months of barely any playing time.

At 33, Blind has now signed for what could be his final club in LaLiga side Girona - ironically, a sister side of United's hated rivals Manchester City. Reminiscing about his past under Ten Hag, Blind has made a bold prediction for the future.

What did Blind say?

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman said of Ten Hag: "I learned so much from him, he's really clear in what he wants. Every day, he wants the best out of you. He wants to teach you every day."

"One of the biggest things," Blind continued, "is that he is such a winner, so he brings also this winning mentality to the team. And I think the tactical part of the game is one of his biggest strengths, so I think he's quite a complete manager in my eyes and I was really happy that I played a few years under Erik ten Hag."

"I think he's done a great job already at Manchester United, I think now with some new signings he did as well. With the second year with his team, he can develop [it] even further. So," Blind concluded, "I think Erik ten Hag is always a manager who strives for the best and aims for the top, so I have no doubt they will fight for the title."
