Man Utd threaten to price Van de Beek out of Ajax reunion
Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek is close to returning to Ajax, according to reports in England, but there could be an issue over the Old Trafford club’s transfer demands.
The Amsterdam side have been following the midfielder’s performances for some time and are already talking about a possible return.
Man Utd, though, have demanded a considerable transfer fee from the Eredivisie side. Indeed, it is reported that a payment of €23.3 million will be required to complete the deal.

Ajax know they will have to dig deep into their pockets in order to fix their broken squad, and that figure could be too much for sporting director Sven Mislintat. Nevertheless, their next step will be to find out how Van de Beek feels about returning to the club.
Ajax are not the only club that keeps an eye on Van de Beek. Arch-rivals Feyenoord also have an eye on the now 26-year-old midfielder. In England, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are on the case, while Serie A sides Inter Milan, AS Roma and AC Milan inquired about his availability. Europa League winners Sevilla, OGC Nice and Celtic have also been linked with him this summer.

Man Utd's Van de Beek disappointment
Even if Ajax agree to pay Man Utd €23 million, that will represent a considerable loss for the Premier League side, who sign him in the summer of 2020 for €39m.
According to FootballTransfers’ algorithm, the Netherlands international, who is under contract until 2025, is worth only €13.3m – well below Man Utd’s asking price.
Van de Beek’s time in England has been an undoubted disappointment, at least partly because of injury issues.
He has managed just 2,131 minutes for Man Utd spread over 60 games, while even a loan period at Everton did not help Van de Beek, who managed just seven games at Goodison Park, again because of injury problems.
