Fabrizio Romano reveals Man Utd's Amrabat plans

Sofyan Amrabat is a Manchester United target, but no approach has as yet been made, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Moroccan starred at the 2022 World Cup and earned himself plenty of plaudits, including at some of Europe's biggest clubs. Having led his nation to the semi-final in Qatar and Fiorentina to the final of the Conference League, Amarabat is one of the most sought-after commodities this summer.

Bayern Munich have previously been rumoured to be interested in the 26-year-old, but the player reportedly only wants a transfer to either Spain or the Premier League. He is ready to take the next step in his career, but a summer move is not guaranteed.

Barcelona greatly admire the Moroccan, but they likely can't afford him. Manchester United have made him their number one target for the defensive midfield position, as we have exclusively reported, and it appears that they might have a free run at Amrabat, barring some Saudi hijack attempts.

But Fabrizio Romano has urged patience regarding a move to Old Trafford.

Nothing imminent

United are currently in the process of wrapping up a deal for Andre Onana, after which they will fully focus on sealing a move for Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund, according to Romano.

Once the Dane - or another striker - has been snapped up, United will turn their attention to the holding midfield department. But even this will not mean that an Amrabat transfer is a certainty.

Romano announced to his 16.9 million Twitter followers that any move for another midfielder - after already signing Mason Mount from Chelsea - will be contingent upon outgoings, specifically the expected departures of Fred and Donny van de Beek.

As of right now, "nothing [is] imminent and no bid has been sent" for Sofyan Amrabat, but the 26-year-old remains firmly on United's shortlist of midfield targets.
