Man Utd transfer target offered €100m contract by rivals

Manchester United’s hopes of landing Tottenham striker Harry Kane continue to diminish, with a report in Germany indicating that Bayern Munich are ready to offer the England captain a bumper contract to lure him to the Bundesliga.

Kane only has one year left on his Spurs deal, and having failed to win a major trophy in his career, it is believed that he is finally willing to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to try his luck elsewhere.

Tottenham are reticent to allow their star player to depart, particularly to a Premier League rival, and with Man Utd struggling to afford a transfer for the 29-year-old, they have switched their attentions towards the younger and cheaper Rasmus Hojlund.

Spurs, meanwhile, are likely to find selling Kane abroad a more palatable option, with Bayern having led the chase for the striker for several months now.

Bayern in pole to land Kane

According to Sport Bild, FCB, who will rival Man Utd in the Champions League this season, are even offering to break the bank with regards the England captain’s salary.

It is indicated that Kane will be offered €20m per year on a four- or five-year contract, making him one of the best-paid players in the world.

What remains to be seen is if Bayern are willing to pay a club-record fee of something in the region of €100m to prise the striker away from Spurs. It would be an uncharacteristic move for the Bundesliga club to spend so big, but they are still in need of a natural centre-forward after seeing Robert Lewandowski leave for Barcelona little over a year ago.

FCB may also feel that the longer the situation draws out this summer, the better the prospects of landing Kane at a cheaper price are given his contract situation.

Kane has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €87m, suggesting Tottenham’s asking price is not a wild one, but it prices him out of a deal with Man Utd for the moment. The question is: will Bayern pounce?
