The Ghana international has been linked with Arsenal and Brighton but reporter Ben Jacobs says that it’s Chelsea who are stepping up their approach.

Arsenal have already spent £200million to bring in Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, but they must move on some of the squad members to ensure further funds for targets this summer window.

Talks have taken place between Chelsea and Kudus’ side now and the player is hopeful of making a move to west London ahead of the new season.

No offer has been forthcoming so far and Ajax have set a price tag of around £40million for the 22-year-old. Man Utd are also admirers of Kudus - manager Erik ten Hag has his eye on him if the club fail to secure the signing of Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dutchman enjoyed great success with Kudus back at Ajax and is keen on making a reunion. Sporting director Edu is now focused on ensuring the likes of Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Nicolas Pepe, Albert Lokonga and Cedric Soares are moved on.

Thomas Partey was thought to be making a move but boss Mikel Arteta has affirmed that he wants the midfielder to remain at the Emirates.

The Spaniard told reporters: “Mikel Arteta however has indicated he wishes to keep the former Atletico Madrid star. ‘Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me and we want him to be in the team, that’s for sure.”

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to make an overhaul of Chelsea after their torrid campaign last season. A number of midfielders have already left the side but also the Argentine wants to focus on bringing in attackers into the fold.
