Real Madrid star Tchouameni deals Liverpool transfer blow

Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, but the Frenchman's social media behaviour suggests he has no intention of leaving the Spanish capital.

Jude Bellingham was Jurgen Klopp's top transfer target for most of the last year, but when Borussia Dortmund's England youngster signed for Real Madrid, attention naturally returned to Tchoumaneni.

Tchoumaneni had been the subject of Liverpool interest before he joined Madrid from Monaco for a potential €100 million last summer before, and now he has extra competition from Bellingham in a midfield which already includes Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

But Tchouameni has always maintained that he wants to stay and fight for his place at the Santiago Bernabeu, and now a social media post has reiterated that stance.

The @RMadrid_actu channel posted, in Tchouameni's native French: "Tchouameni is NOT FOR SALE. Do you understand, @Liverpool?" - something the player himself liked.

Tchoumeni impressed at Real last season before struggling with muscular complaints in the second half of the campaign, averaging two interceptions per game and completing 93 per cent of his passes.

While Real now have an embarrassment of riches in midfield, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are increasingly used as a right winger and left-back respectively, while Modric and Kroos could be playing their final seasons at 37 and 33.

Tchouameni has previously reflected on his decision to choose Madrid over Liverpool in 2022.

"As soon as Real Madrid arrived on the scene, I did not hesitate," he said.

"I want to leave a mark on football, and the best club for this is Real Madrid. It's the best decision for me. When Madrid called, I didn't hesitate and I talked about it with my family.

"I wrote to my agent and told him: do everything possible to take me there, please."
