Chelsea or Liverpool? Romano KNOWS who is winning Lavia transfer race

Chelsea and Liverpool are presently battling for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool have been working on the Belgium international for several weeks but face new competition from Chelsea, whose stalling pursuit of Moises Caicedo has forced them to look elsewhere in the market for alternatives.
The competition for the 19-year-old has intensified in recent days, with the Premier League clubs lodging bids for Lavia over the course of the last week. Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side responded to the Blues’ hijack attempt by making an improved offer themselves.

With the situation looking messy, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stepped in to give fans his understanding of the present situation, giving one clear leader in the race for Lavia at present.
“It’s true, like I always told you, that Chelsea are keeping an eye on the situation of Romeo Lavia, but Liverpool are ahead at this moment in the race for Lavia,” he explained on YouTube.
Given that Klopp’s side have focused on the player as their top priority for weeks, this should come as little surprise, with some sources reporting that personal terms have even been agreed.

Chelsea get positive Caicedo news
While Chelsea may lag in the Lavia stakes, Romano did offer Mauricio Pochettino’s side better news with regards Caicedo.
“What I can confirm is that Caicedo wants to go to Chelsea, Caicedo is pushing to go to Chelsea, but it is true as we have seen around in the English press that Chelsea are looking at some alternatives,” he said.
Lavia is expected to move for a fee around the £50 million (€58m) mark, which is substantially higher than the player’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €20m.
Romano has previously indicated that there is a “high chance” of a deal transfer being agreed this summer, with Liverpool ahead of Chelsea in this particular race as things stand.
