Liverpool and England midfielder Jordan Henderson is on the verge of a transfer to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq that has been described as “life-changing” for him.

Rumours are abound that Henderson has been offered a move to the big-spending league, where former Reds favourite Roberto Firmino has joined Al-Ahli, following in the footsteps of Ballon d’Or winners Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, who had earlier signed up with the emerging league.

Henderson, the Liverpool captain, has reportedly been offered £700,000 per week to make the move and the latest indications are that he is leaning towards a deal.

Henderson ‘leaning towards’ Al-Ettifaq transfer

These have been backed up by respected journalist David Ornstein on Sky Sports.

“Jordan Henderson is leaning towards accepting this offer and it would be life-changing in terms of the fact it is expected to be four times his salary at Liverpool if he decides to accept it and make the move,” he said.

“Crucially, the clubs would need to agree a deal.

“Liverpool haven’t had any offers or contact yet but if Henderson approves this potential move then I think immediately the two clubs would enter talks.

“So, this seems to be developing as we speak.

“The England factor is of course massive with the Euros around the corner and also where Henderson stands in Jurgen Klopp’s plans with two years left on his contract.

“Could it be Henderson that makes the move? It is yet to be confirmed but we understand a decision from Henderson is expected imminently one way or the other, and Liverpool will clearly react from there.”

A veteran of 12 years at Liverpool, Henderson has made 492 appearances for the Anfield club and has enjoyed a stellar rise over that period, winning the Premier League in 2020 after lifting the Champions League in 2019.
