Arsenal could be about to make another exciting summer addition, having reportedly tabled a bid for Barcelona’s Ansu Fati.

Barca could look to offload the 20-year-old forward, who found starts hard to come by under Xavi last season.

There is also said to be interest from the Saudi Pro League in Fati, who has won nine senior caps for Spain and is their youngest ever goalscorer.

According to SPORT (via FootballFancast), Arsenal have made a ‘very tempting offer’ to Barca for Fati – who our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model currently rates at €31.3m (£26.9m).

However, it sounds like the Catalan giants firmly rejected the Gunners’ advances for the La Masia academy graduate.

Despite his lack of minutes last term, Fati is said to intend to stay at Barcelona – for whom he made his first-team debut back in 2019 at the age of 16.

Arteta’s Gunners begin the new campaign with a bang

Arsenal have made so far this transfer window as they prepare to return to the Champions League in 2023/24 and look to build on their strong 2022/23 Premier League campaign – where their title challenge faded late on.

Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber have joined from Chelsea, West Ham and Ajax respectively for a combined £208.6m (€242m).

And Mikel Arteta’s revamped side have started the new season on a positive note, defeating Manchester City – who beat the Gunners to the Premier League title last term – on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.

They begin their league campaign at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, then face Crystal Palace, Fulham and Manchester United before the first international break of 2023/24.
