Folarin Balogun’s move from Arsenal to Monaco appears close to a certainty, with the clubs having agreed upon a transfer fee for the USMNT striker.

Balogun has been at the heart of many transfer rumours this summer, with West Ham manager David Moyes a huge fan of the striker and even Chelsea taking a look at the player, too.

However, he is set to head back to Ligue 1, where he excelled with Reims last season, scoring 21 goals in a breakout campaign.

Arsenal had hoped to pocket close to €58 million (£50m) for the striker, but that figure always looked rather ambitious and an agreement has been made at a significantly lower price.

What is Folarin Balogun's transfer fee?

An agreement has been made that will see Monaco pay €30m upfront for the striker with €10m to potentially follow in bonuses, according to L’Equipe, although it is pointed out that there are still some small details to be ironed out on that front.

Balogun, meanwhile, has agreed to sign a five-year deal with Monaco, which will see him offer competition for experienced forward Wissam Ben Yedder at the forefront of Adi Hutter’s attacker.

Monaco had been pushed unexpectedly into the market following a serious injury to Breel Embolo shortly before the season started. Myron Boadu is expected to depart for Italy, meanwhile, with Salernitana expected to recruit the Dutchman, who scored the equaliser in Friday’s 3-3 draw with Nantes.

He is seen as a valuable option to the Ligue 1 side thanks to his capability of getting in behind defenders, which is something that the likes of Ben Yedder, Aleksandr Golovin and Takumi Minamino all struggle with.

Balogun should enjoy life in Monaco, with Hutter’s attacking style set to offer striker plenty of goalscoring opportunities. Already this season, the principality side have scored 10 goals in three games.
