Arsenal get one over on Spurs with latest transfer
Arsenal’s latest transfer business has derailed Tottenham’s summer plans, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed a happy spin off from the Gunners’ decision to offload Kieran Tierney.
Having fallen to third-choice left-back at Arsenal, Tierney is set to leave on a loan deal to LaLiga outfit Real Sociedad.
Not only will Tierney earn regular game time in Spain, which he would not get at Arsenal, he will be able to play in the Champions League, with his decision to go to Sociedad thwarting Tottenham’s plans to offload Sergio Reguilon.
EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal want Eric Garcia from Barcelona
Romano revealed: “After Tierney’s move to Real Sociedad, Reguilon deal collapses. Despite long negotiations with Tottenham for their target there was no agreement between clubs.
“Tierney will travel to Spain tomorrow [Saturday] in order to undergo medical and sign at Real Sociedad.”

Arsenal and Spurs’ transfer plans
The collapse of the Reguilon transfer should not affect Tottenham too seriously. Ange Postecoglou’s side have little need to raise transfer funds following the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich earlier in August, while their priority is currently finding an attacker who could replace the England captain.
The squad is, however, looking rather bloated, with several players who are clearly surplus to requirements such as Reguilon who could do with being moved on.
This is the opposite to Arsenal, who are just about set for the season ahead, with the exception of finding a central defensive replacement for Jurrien Timber, who faces missing much of the season because of a serious knee complaint.
No clear favourite for that role has presently emerged with just six days left in the transfer window to find a solution. FootballTransfers has exclusively revealed that the Gunners have sounded out Barcelona over a deal for Eric Garcia.
Both clubs, meanwhile, have made promising starts to the season, with Arsenal winning both fixtures and Spurs getting their first win under Postecoglou last weekend as they defeated Manchester United 2-0 last Saturday.
