Chelsea have submitted a bid for 17-year-old Corinthians wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues' summer business appears to be far from done. After the blockbuster move for Cole Palmer, who is on his way to join from Manchester City for £40 million, Chelsea are once again putting their new transfer policy into practice despite already splashing the cash - again - this summer.

In recent times, the London club have begun targeting the world's brightest young talents, with South America a particularly happy hunting ground. Andrey Santos, Kendry Paez, Angelo Gabriel and Deivid Washington have all - or will, in the case of 16-year-old Paez - swap South America for London.

Now, the Blues are once again in the market for a breakout talent and it's another young Brazilian after Santos, Gabriel and Washington.

Chelsea eye another Gabriel

According to Fabrizio Romano and Brazilian media, Chelsea have already submitted an official offer worth €21m for 17-year-old Corinthians starlet Gabriel Moscardo.

"Chelsea have presented [a] formal bid to Corinthians for 2005 born top talent Gabriel Moscardo," Romano announced to his 18.4 million Twitter followers. "Bid already discussed between clubs...[I'm] told Corinthians now want €25m to sell Moscardo and make it [a] club record sale. It’d be a signing for the future."

Despite his tender years, the young defensive midfielder has already made ten appearances for Corinthians' senior team. If signed, he would be another name to add to Chelsea's contingent of wonderkids.

More intriguingly, he would also be yet another addition to Chelsea's already-stacked defensive midfield, though as Romano said, he would be a signing for the future - but so are Lesley Ugochukwu, Andrey Santos and Romeo Lavia - and he would arrive at Stamford Bridge next summer.

This window alone, Chelsea have spent €205m on defensive midfielders and that is before we add the €25m Corinthians are demanding for Moscardo. To say that Chelsea's recruitment is fascinating would be an understatement.
