Amrabat to Man Utd and five transfers that could be completed on Deadline Day
Transfer Deadline Day is here after an astonishing summer which has seen some shock big-money deals and some of Europe’s elite players making the move to the Saudi Pro League
Chelsea have broken the English transfer record for the second time in 2023 after signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton, after Arsenal had already done it themselves with the deal that brought Declan Rice to the Emirates from West Ham in July.
Neymar’s transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal has been the marquee signing of the Saudi Arabian project, although the Gulf state are still desperately hoping to bring Mohamed Salah, with their transfer window still open until early September.
DONE DEALS: All the transfers from Premier League sides this summer
However, in Europe the deadline for transfers is at 11pm BST on Friday 1st September and there are still plenty of deals that could happen going into the final hours of the window.
Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool
Ryan Gravenberch has long been touted for a move to the Premier League, but when he joined Bayern Munich from Ajax last summer, he would not have envisaged making the leap in 2023. Out of the picture in Germany, though, the Netherlands star will join the Dutch cluster at Anfield, where Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk are already playing their football.
Numerous teams have looked at Gravenberch over the course of the summer, with Man Utd inevitably linked with a move, but it is Liverpool who will seal the transfer on Deadline Day.

Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid
Speculation surrounding Kylian Mbappe simply will not go away, with rumours still flying around that he could complete a move to Real Madrid late in what has been a turbulent transfer window for the France star.
He has made it clear throughout the summer that he wants to stay at PSG this season before deciding upon his future next summer, with the general belief that he will join Real Madrid at that point.
He has knocked back a huge offer from the Saudi Pro League already so a dramatic Deadline Day transfer to Real Madrid does not seem on the cards, particularly with rumours that he may actually extend his PSG contract increasing in weight.
Sofyan Amrabat to Manchester United
Manchester United are scrambling to finalise their squad before the transfer deadline, with Erik ten Hag having failed to add any new players since Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival at the start of August.
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been United’s top target in midfield all summer but Ten Hag’s side have so far failed to meet the asking price for the Moroccan.
United were hoping to sign Amrabat on loan but that offer has been rebuffed by Fiorentina, with competition from the likes of Galatasaray and Nottingham Forest for the 27-year-old.
Fiorentina are keen on cashing in on a player in the last year of his contract, meaning that a deal could come down to the final hours if United can cough up the cash to get their man.
Marc Cucurella or Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United
Another target for Ten Hag has been at left-back following the injury to Luke Shaw, which leaves United woefully understaffed in his absence.
As a result, United have had to shift their focus to the problem position, considering the likes of Marcos Alonso, Sergio Reguilon and Alfonso Pedraza as loan candidates.
For a long period, the most likely target seemed to be Marc Cucurella, with Chelsea open to letting the Spaniard leave on loan, having seen him fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following a disastrous debut season.
United and Chelsea are said to have yet to come to an agreement over a loan fee despite Cucurella’s desire for the move, although a compromise could be reached imminently, leading to the possibility of Reguilon arriving at the club.
Joao Felix to Barcelona
The future of Joao Felix has been an interesting one this summer, with the Atletico Madrid forward seemingly unwanted after his disappointing loan at Chelsea last season.
The Portuguese international has fallen out of favour at his club and failed to generate any interest, with teams unable to meet Atletico’s asking price and also cover his significant wages.
However, a surprise option in Barcelona has seemingly appeared, with the Catalan side open to taking Felix on loan, although their finances could prevent any deal from happening.
Barca are still yet to confirm the loan of Joao Cancelo from Manchester City, indicating that they will have a lot of work to do to sign both him and Felix before Friday’s deadline.
Trevoh Chalobah to Bayern Munich
Chelsea have been the biggest spenders in world football in recent times, splashing out more than €1 billion on players since Todd Boehly’s arrival last summer.
But, having agreed a deal to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City, the Blues will now focus on outgoings, with Trevoh Chalobah set to be the most significant player who could leave.
Bayern Munich have seen a loan offer rejected for Chalobah, with Chelsea holding out for £50m for their academy graduate as Thomas Tuchel looks to reunite with one of his former players.
