Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Sadio Mane could join the plethora of big names heading to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The former Reds winger has been strongly linked with a move to Al-Nassr from Bayern Munich – and Klopp seems to expect it to happen.

Mane only joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer – but, despite helping the German giants to their 11th straight Bundesliga title, things haven’t worked out for the Senegal star in Bavaria.

And, discussing the 31-year-old’s future, Klopp told the media: “I don't know what went wrong. When he left us, he left us on a high and in really good shape; a world-class player. New environment; new expectations maybe. I didn't speak to Sadio about it.

“Sadio is a very proud man. We will see. The Saudi influence [on the transfer market] is massive; it is influential for us, but we will have to deal with it.”

Liverpool have just lost two players themselves to the Saudi Pro League, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving for Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad respectively.

Roberto Firmino will also ply his trade in the Gulf kingdom next season, having signed for Al-Ahli as a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Anfield.

No fairy-tale return for a Liverpool legend

Earlier in the summer, it was speculated that Mane might make a sensational return to Liverpool – but such rumours never appeared particularly likely to become reality.

The Reds are still looking to strengthen their squad for 2023/24, though, having already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this transfer window.

Klopp and co. kick off their Premier League campaign away to Chelsea next Sunday (August 13).
