Man Utd told Pavard asking price as SHOCK transfer stance revealed

Bayern Munich have, surprisingly, told Manchester United that Benjamin Pavard is not for sale, according to German media.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-back as Harry Maguire's move to West Ham edges closer. The erstwhile club captain has failed to match the Erik ten Hag's high expectations and will be sold in a bid to raise funds for a defender more suited to the Dutchman's style.
Having also been linked with Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo, Ten Hag seems to prefer to go for his long-time target Benjamin Pavard, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers. Indeed, reports earlier today claimed that United's move for the 2018 World Cup winner was accelerating, but not it appears to have hit a roadblock.

United wanted to use the money made from Maguire's impending sale to fund this deal, but as it turns out, it may not be enough to convince Bayern.
Bayern set asking price
According to BILD, the perennial Bundesliga champions have made it clear to the Manchester club that Pavard is not for sale at the moment because the Germans failed in their pursuit of Man City right-back Kyle Walker.
They would, however, be willing to sell if United were to indicate that they are prepared to put more money on the table. The Red Devils are currently valuing the Frenchman at €34m - close to what Bayern paid for him in 2019 - but the Germans want at least €45-50m.

As for Pavard himself, he is keen on the move and one would imagine that to be the case now more than ever following Bayern's embarrassing Supercup defeat to Leipzig.
Pavard's contract expires next summer and it is well known that he has no intention to renew this deal, so Bayern's unwillingness to sell is surprising, to say the least.
