Harry Maguire’s proposed move from Manchester United to West Ham has reportedly fallen through.

The Hammers had agreed a £30m fee for the England defender but are said to have lost patience as Maguire tried to negotiate the terms of his exit from Old Trafford.

As such, David Moyes and co. may now pursue other centre-back options as the summer transfer window heads towards its final fortnight.

However, according to the Guardian, West Ham have not categorically pulled the plug on a deal for Maguire – although he no longer appears to be their top priority.

Erik ten Hag had left the door open for the 30-year-old to stay at United and fight for his place in the team, but his future still seems likely to lie away from Old Trafford.

Earlier this summer, Maguire was replaced as club captain by Bruno Fernandes, having fallen down the pecking order last term amid some costly mistakes.

Where will Maguire go?

With deadline day fast approaching, though, will Maguire still be able to leave Man Utd this transfer window?

A departure would appear to be the best option for both club and player, so it seems in United’s interests to do all they can to make a sale happen – especially if they want to finance further signings of their own.

The 13-time Premier League champions continue to be strongly linked with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat – although they could face stiff competition from Juventus for the Moroccan World Cup semi-finalist.

Despite beating Wolves 1-0 in their opening game of the new Premier League season on Monday night, United were carved open with concerning ease – underscoring the need for an additional defensive midfielder to complement Casemiro.
