The Red Devils are looking for a short-term replacement for Luke Shaw after the defender sustained an injury that could see him sidelined for months.

One of the options that the club looked at recently was the Perisic, we understand. But their initial approach was knocked back as the representative did not encourage the club to go to Spurs with a firm offer.

The 34-year-old came off the bench in Spurs’ 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday and he also made a substitute appearance during his club’s victory over Man Utd last weekend, also a 2-0 victory.

Man Utd have been linked with a move for the Croatian winger before, when he was playing for Inter in Serie A.

Man Utd are looking at a number of options for the left-back position. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona player Marcos Alonso are among the names that are being considered.

The club must utilise the loan market as they have used up a majority of their funds.

Erik ten Hag is looking for another striker, as FootballTransfers exclusively reported, and Ivan Toney is among the options being looked at, ahead of a January move when his ban for gambling breaches would have expired.
