Greenwood receives AUDACIOUS transfer offer after Man Utd exit
A European minnow is plotting an audacious swoop for disgraced Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, according to a report.
Transfer speculation surrounding the 21-year-old continues unabated after the Red Devils announced that the two parties would go separate ways upon being faced with widespread public outrage had they gone through with their initial plan of bringing him back into the fold.
Greenwood hasn't played for United since his arrest in January 2022 on suspicions of attempted rape and assault. The charges were ultimately dropped, but whether or not the 21-year-old is actually innocent is a different question altogether.
In light of this, the original idea of Man Utd's sporting hierarchy to allow him to return to the squad was unsurprisingly met with justified indignation from all quarters, including from within the club.

United ultimately did the correct thing in letting him go, but the expectation is that Greenwood will continue his footballing career, likely outside of England.
Greenwood to Albania?
In recent days, Greenwood has been snubbed by clubs in Italy, as FootballTransfers was able to confirm, and by the Saudi Pro League, with Steven Gerrard even blasting rumours of his Al-Ettifaq being interested as 'fake news.'
Turkey has thus emerged as his most plausible destination, but now, an entirely new country has entered the picture, if a report is to be believed: Albania.

Indeed, according to talkSPORT, an 'unnamed Albanian club' have registered their interest in signing Greenwood. Albania is not necessarily known as a footballing powerhouse, with the men's national team ranking 65th in the world, according to FIFA.
Whether there is anything to this remains to be seen, but it may be the most unlikely transfer rumour of the summer. It must be said, however, that playing in a peripheral footballing country like Albania would give Greenwood the chance to rebuild his career away from the limelight - whether he actually deserves this chance is a different question, of course.
