Fabrizio Romano gives 'HERE WE GO' to new Manchester United left-back
Manchester United are set to announce Sergio Reguilon as their new left-back, dashing any hopes of signing Marc Cucurella, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
United have been in the market for a new left-back late in the summer transfer window after Luke Shaw picked up a muscular injury that will keep him out for at least six weeks.
With Tyrell Malacia also injured and Brandon Williams allowed to leave on loan to Ipswich, Erik ten Hag was faced with the prospect of using an out-of-position Diogo Dalot or inexperienced Alvaro Fernandez at left-back.

Cucurella had looked the favourite to get the nod, with Chelsea willing to part ways with a player who has flopped since his £62 million arrival from Brighton last summer, but now Reguilon will arrive on loan from Tottenham Hotspur instead.

Cucurella deal OFF
"Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United, here we go!" Romano tweeted. "Verbal agreement in place with Tottenham on loan deal. Understand medical tests are taking place right now! There will be clause to break loan deal in January. Marc Cucurella deal, OFF."
Reguilon spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid and has found himself behind Destiny Udogie and Ivan Perisic in the pecking order of left-backs since Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London from Celtic this summer.

Reguilon arrived at Spurs from Real Madrid in a €30m deal in September 2020, but is now only valued at €15m by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm. How much Tottenham would require to make any deal permanent hasn't been expressed.
Reguilon will become United's fifth signing of the summer window after Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Jonny Evans, while a sixth is expected in Turkey goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce.
