Revealed: Why Chelsea DIDN'T sign Man Utd's Sancho this summer
Chelsea were interested in signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer, but were concerned about his mentality and ended up signing Cole Palmer instead, according to reports.
Palmer, 21, joined Chelsea from Manchester City on Transfer Deadline Day after the Blues agreed a €47 million deal for the England U21 star and he made his debut in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
However, the west London club were also interested in signing Sancho. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on his YouTube channel that: “Jadon Sancho came on the table when Chelsea and Manchester United discussed about Marc Cucurella in a possible swap deal. However, it was never concrete, close or advanced.”

Furthermore, the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler has now reported that Chelsea had concerns about Sancho’s mentality, which led to their pursuit of Palmer instead.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has struggled since moving to Old Trafford for €85m in 2021 and has started just 41 Premier League games for the club.

Jadon Sancho vs Erik ten Hag
Sancho, 23, has hit the headlines in recent days after he lodged a social media message against Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman revealed his performances in training were the reason for his omission from the Red Devils’ squad to face Arsenal.
After Ten Hag’s post-match press conference quotes circulated online, Sancho posted on Twitter: “Please don’t believe everything you read!
“I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
“All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
