Bayern Munich’s proposed deal to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has fallen through after the Bavarians failed to agree a fee with the west Londoners before the Bundesliga’s 5pm deadline.

While clubs in the Premier League have until 11pm to finalise their business, Deadline Day slammed shut at 5pm in Germany and Bayern were unable to secure a deal to sign the Portugal international.

Palhinha had completed his medical and media duties in Munich, as per Fabrizio Romano, but the move has now collapsed as the window in Germany is no longer open.

As a result, Liverpool fans began worrying that it may potentially put a spanner in the works regarding their hopes of signing Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

Gravenberch, 21, is on the verge of joining the Reds after Jurgen Klopp’s side reached a full agreement with Bayern, but the Bavarians failure to sign Palhinha was seen as something that could impact Liverpool.

However, Romano has reported that ‘sources confirm Ryan Gravenberch deal should be and will be fine despite the incredible turnaround with Joao Palhinha.’

Furthermore, the transfer expert posted on Twitter to reveal that the deal is ‘sealed’ and that Gravenberch will be unveiled as a Liverpool player today.

There was the possibility that Bayern could pull the plug on Liverpool’s deal to sign Gravenberch as Thomas Tuchel’s side will now not be able to sign a replacement for the Dutchman as the Bundesliga window is shut.

But, a €40 million fee has been agreed and the deal is expected to still go through.

Gravenberch to Liverpool

Gravenberch will become Liverpool’s fourth midfield signing of the summer after the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Domink Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.

He will become the club’s 16th most expensive signing in history, equalling the fee Liverpool paid to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig in 2021.
