Boyhood Liverpool fan reveals why he REJECTED dream move this summer
New Napoli recruit Jesper Lindstrom has revealed that he rejected Liverpool this summer despite being a boyhood Reds fan.
The creative Danish attacker had been one of Eintracht Frankfurt's standout players since arriving in the Bundesliga, playing a crucial role in the German club's surprising Europa League win in 2021/22.
This triumph saw Frankfurt qualify for the Champions League and despite a fairytale run to the knockouts, the Eagles' season ended in disappointment and it became clear to Lindstrom that it was time to move on as another summer rebuild was on the cards.

After arousing interest from the Premier League, Lindstrom was keen on playing Champions League football this season, something Frankfurt couldn't offer after last term's 7th-place finish. Among the interested clubs were Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle, but the Dane ended up signing for Serie A champions Napoli instead.
Now, he has revealed why he chose Italy over Merseyside and the Premier League.
What did Lindstrom say?
Speaking to Tipsbladet in the Danish national team camp, Lindstrom said: "There was Liverpool after all, but would I get playing time? Would it be smart to go to Liverpool? I'm a Liverpool fan, that's well-known, so it could have been an insanely cool experience."
"But if I'm not playing, I might as well sit and watch them on TV for another club. I'm at an age now where I have to play some football. That's why I think Napoli is a good change. It is a top club in the world and they have said that I will play and I will get a lot of chances."

Lindstrom also admitted that there was a time when it appeared as though he would not actually be able to leave Frankfurt. "I was of course surprised that it could be done because they had expressed that it might not be possible. But I think it's cool. I have been looking forward to something happening."
