Manchester United continue to chase Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on Transfer Deadline Day, but a source close to the club has described the Red Devils as being “f***ed” behind the scenes.
FootballTransfers has learned that the Amrabat deal is not tied to the future of Scott McTominay, as has often been credited in the past.
Instead, the Red Devils are struggling to land the 27-year-old midfielder because of the money they are offering Fiorentina and the overall structure of the deal.

The issue as the source described it is being created by Man Utd being in an absolute mess behind the scenes.
Amrabat has been on the radar of the Old Trafford side for weeks yet Erik ten Hag has been unable to land the midfielder because of the club’s financial issues.
United have been unable to sell players in order to fund a deal, but according to FootballTransfers’ sources this is not what is causing the holdup in the deal. Instead, it is the club being unable to match Fiorentina's demands over a loan fee, which has been reported at €10 million.

Man Utd a mess behind the scenes
This revelation is likely to increase anger amongst the Man Utd supporters, many of whom have long grown tired of the ownership of the Glazer brothers, who have ultimate oversight of the club.
Although the Americans elected to put the Old Trafford side up for sale in late 2022, when a takeover was expected to be completed by Easter 2023, they have been unable to strike a bargain with either Sheikh Jassim or Ineos, who are the primary bidders for the club.
This situation has left Ten Hag with a limited budget in the transfer window and has played a role in denying him the players he wants to sign.
Man Utd supporters, meanwhile, are set to continue their protests about the Glazers’ ownership outside Old Trafford on Deadline Day.
