Van de Beek's Man Utd exit takes unexpected January twist

Donny van de Beek will leave Manchester United in January.
According to Spanish media, it is not Real Sociedad or Lorient that will sign Van de Beek, but Inter Milan.
Head coach Simone Inzaghi seems to still be very charmed by the midfielder and is disappointed that his side were unable to make progress on a deal during the last transfer period.

Now that the transfer market is closed in most places, it seems that Van de Beek will have to stay at Manchester United for at least another six months. The midfielder has not been included in Erik ten Hag's plans for some time and has not yet been included in the Red Devils match selection this season.
A transfer seemed to offer a solution this summer. Despite the interest from several foreign clubs, a departure from Man Utd did not happen.
Although the club was certainly open to a transfer, Van de Beek was unable to reach an agreement with Lorient, among others.

The last transfer period did not sort his future, but if it is up to Inter, Van de Beek will still make the switch in January.
The Italian club are reportedly willing to pay €20 million to get the 26-year-old midfielder away from his plight at Manchester United. Van de Beek still has an ongoing contract with Manchester United until mid-2025, while the Old Trafford club are also be open to a loan period.
Man Utd need Van de Beek income
Manchester United could make good use of Van de Beek’s transfer fee and released salary to attract new players.
In particular, they are likely to be looking at wingers given the problems that Antony and Jadon Sancho have encountered early this season.
Ten Hag is thought to be looking at Athletic Club’s Nico Williams as a potential January arrival, but Man Utd face competitions from both Liverpool and Barcelona in this case.
