Manchester United are already planning for next summer and Evan Ferguson is one of the players the Red Devils could try to bring in.

Erik ten Hag managed to go some way towards remoulding his Red Devils squad in his image over the summer by bringing in Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat, the latter albeit only on loan.

While the enthusiasm over this business has quickly dissipated due to never-ending off-field issues and a poor start to the season, Ten Hag and company are already thinking about the upcoming transfer windows because some positions weren't strengthened in the desired manner.

Among them is the centre-back position. With former captain Harry Maguire refusing to head to West Ham, United did not have the requisite funds to sign a defender more suited to Ten Hag's style. This will be addressed next summer, but there's more that needs fixing.

Ferguson, Tapsoba, Frimpong

One of the players targeted for the centre-back position is Edmond Tapsoba, according to the Manchester Evening News. The Bayer Leverkusen star was already linked with Man Utd this summer but the German side's asking price put off the Manchester club.

Similarly, his teammate Jeremie Frimpong could be courted yet again next year as Ten Hag would still like to add a more offensive-minded full-back. The Dutchman is a long-time admirer of his compatriot.

Central midfield will also be strengthened further, according to the above-mentioned report. Signing Amrabat permanently would go some way towards achieving that but more players in that position will be targeted.

Finally, the crown jewel of Man Utd's business could be the signing of Brighton's teenage sensation Evan Ferguson. FootballTransfers already reported in July, "that there is a strong interest in Evan Ferguson, who is a big Man Utd fan. He was very conflicted before signing a new deal at Brighton last season. We are informed that Man Utd will eventually be his likely destination, whether that comes in 2024 or beyond."

MEN has now corroborated that "sources believe it is possible Ferguson could be transferred next year. Although United have invested heavily in the £72 million Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag has long wanted another forward and there is uncertainty over the futures of several attackers."
