EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd give clear Hannibal Mejbri update
Man Utd have an option to extend Hannibal Mejbri’s contract and are happy with the progress the midfielder is making in the first-team following his dogged display in the club’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening, FootballTransfers has been told.
The youngster showed his quality in the club’s assured victory over the South Londoners, with Erik ten Hag having to contend with a number of injuries and absences to his first team.
As FootballTransfers previously reported, Hannibal has caught the eye of the head coach in pre-season and is set for a prominent among the first-team ahead of the campaign.
Club sources have informed us that Ten Hag is happy with the development that the 20-year-old has made so far, with the Dutchman impressed by the midfielder's ability to press as well as his running numbers. Hannibal’s current deal is up next summer but there is an option to extend by a further year.
Meanwhile, details over available funds for Ten Hag in the January window are yet to be ironed out, with the club having to dip into the loan market last time around.

The club have endured a testing start in their second campaign under Ten Hag - having lost three of their six opening Premier League games - but the win over Palace saw a bounce back of sorts, having beaten Burnley 1-0 the weekend prior.
Sofyan Amrabat shines
It comes after Ten Hag hailed Sofyan Amrabat following his debut at Old Trafford against the Eagles, where he played at left-back.
Signed from Fiorentina on deadline day, FootballTransfers had revealed how much the head coach wanted to bring in the Moroccan midfielder, having missed out on significant funds owing to the protracted takeover saga.
“It was a good night, we played quite well and dominated the game,” Ten Hag said. “That’s what we are looking for. “If you don’t win, of course there is frustration and disappointment and the mood is then dropping. But the spirit was always good, the togetherness was there and is there – you could see that today.
“We made a step forward at Burnley with how we defend, the togetherness and today on the ball we made another step. “Still a lot to come but we’re moving forward. I know he’s (Amrabat) capable of that. He’s a player who gives the team what they need and makes a contribution. He has quality as well as energy and the dynamic he brings.”
