Despite signing Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, Erik ten Hag's midfield revolution at Manchester United is far from over.

Reshaping the Red Devils' midfield has been one of the biggest tasks that the Dutchman has faced since arriving at Old Trafford. Accordingly, €145 million have been spent on recruits for the engine room since the summer of 2022, but there is more business that needs to be done.

Despite Bayern almost signing Joao Palhinha and both the player's camp and the German giants expressing their desire to get a deal done in January, Man Utd want to try and hijack a deal for the Fulham star to add further steel to the midfield.

However, it's not all about incomings. Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay still remain on the books at Man Utd. The chances of the latter still leaving this summer are exceptionally slim, but United will put the Scot on the market in January.

Van de Beek, meanwhile, could still leave as some transfer windows are still open. A move to Belgium has not materialised despite Royal Antwerp being interested - that window has now shut. This leaves Turkey and Saudi Arabia as the Dutchman's only realistic options, and he must surely leave unless he wants to sit on the bench until January.

A shock return

Phil Jones has been spotted back at Carrington and there have been suggestions that the defender, who left United earlier this summer, could make a permanent return to coach the club's U18s.

But according to the Manchester Evening News, Jones was merely at Carrington to observe academy training with his presence being considered 'useful' for the youngsters' development.

AWB contract talks

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s turnaround under Erik ten Hag is set to be completed imminently, with the right-back having opened contract talks with the club over an extension.

The 25-year-old has benefited from Man Utd’s inability to add as extensively to their squad as Ten Hag might have wished and has managed to re-establish himself in the manager’s plans.

Out of contract next summer, Man Utd are now ready to open talks over a new deal for the right-back, according to The Telegraph.

Antony latest

Manchester United have finally released a statement on the ongoing investigation into domestic violence allegations levelled at Antony by his former partner.

"Man United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries. Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments."

"As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."
