Manchester United's transfer window had a happy ending after all.

The Red Devils enjoyed a successful Deadline Day which means that spirits will be high heading into today's huge clash against Arsenal. Though Erik ten Hag did not get the centre-back more suited to his style than erstwhile captain Harry Maguire, he did finally get his hands on priority target Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan joins on an initial one-year loan with a €10 million fee attached and he arrived in England yesterday. Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand has hailed the transfer and believes that Amrabat will have no problems adapting to the English game despite concerns about his discipline after picking up 16 yellow cards last term.

United also completed the signings of Sergio Reguilon and Altay Bayindir to strengthen the left-back and goalkeeping departments, respectively.

Two could still leave

Although the transfer window has officially slammed shut in Europe's major leagues, there are still deals to be done. Donny van de Beek, for example, was expected to depart while the window was open, but negotiations with Real Sociedad over a loan were unsuccessful and Deadline Day came and went without him sealing a move.

Nevertheless, the Dutchman could still leave. Galatasaray were recently credited with an interest in the midfielder and the Turkish Super Lig window is open until September 15, so he could still make the switch to Istanbul.

Eric Bailly, too, should have been long gone at this point considering that the Ivorian hasn't featured for United since 2021, but he spurned moves to Besiktas and Al-Nassr so that interest in his services eventually grew cold. The Saudi window is open until September 7, so he may yet end up in the Middle East after all.

Greenwood's shock Getafe loan

Disgraced Man Utd forward Mason Greenwood sealed a shock loan to LaLiga side Getafe late on Deadline Day in a move that was, unsurprisingly, met with serious outrage.

It has now been revealed that Man Utd will cover more than half of his salary and, given that he is still under contract until 2025, Greenwood will return to Old Trafford next summer.

Having not played since his arrest in January 2022, the forward did not feature in Getafe's 2-1 loss to Real Madrid, but coach Pepe Bordalas was asked to give his thoughts on the move after the game.

"At this point, this is a situation which is too delicate to speak lightly about," Bordalas said. "Everyone knows what happened, the necessary measures were taken."

"We can talk about football," he continued. "In other respects, the authorities did what they were obliged to do, and we all know how it turned out. He has been absolved, he is a footballer with huge quality and comes to Getafe with great expectations."

Hojlund fit

Erik ten Hag's press conference ahead of Arsenal got somewhat lost in the Deadline Day madness, but besides confirming Reguilon's loan before the club did, the Dutchman also gave an exciting update on Rasmus Hojlund's fitness.

The Dane has not featured for the Red Devils yet, arriving from Atalanta with a back injury, but he may be in line to start against the Gunners.

"Yes, so we had a good training week and tomorrow we have the final training," Ten Hag announced on September 1. "He is doing well so he will be available. I think he is ready to start."
